EPIP Teaching Model for International Engineering Projects Management

With the globalization of human activities, the international project market is undergoing rapid expansion, accompanied by increased uncertainty. One major concern within this context is the communication cost associated with it. The lack of an appropriate working language and communication skills often impedes the execution of many projects. This paper delves into the contribution of various English teaching approaches for engineering, including ESP (English for Specific Purposes), CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), CDIO (Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate), and introduces the concept of EPIP (Engineering Project International Project). EPIP serves as an engineering English teaching model tailored for managing international engineering projects. The focus is on a project-based approach, emphasizing a practice-driven concept. The paper draws on successful implementation experiences in over twenty countries. It provides a class design by adopting the EPIP teaching model, targeting the preliminary stages of project management. The designed teaching plan aims to enhance teaching efficiency by integrating a real engineering project. This approach places a special emphasis on hands-on skills practice, encourages innovation, and enables students to develop the integrated knowledge and skills demanded by enterprises and future trends.
