Biodegradation Behaviour of Magnesium AZ31B Under Static and Dynamic Simulation Body Fluid Environment for Bone Implant Application

摘要

This study shows the effect of immersion and laminar flow on the degradation behavior of magnesium AZ31B, which simulates the environment in cortical and cancellous bone and uses simulation body fluid (SBF) as the test fluid. The degradation test method used is weight loss. The variation of the length of time used in each test method is 72, 144, and 216 h and uses a flow rate of 10 ml/minute. From the optical microscopy (OM) analysis, uniform corrosion is seen in the immersion test and erosion-corrosion in the laminar flow test. The corrosion rate values obtained in the immersion test are 0.94 mm/y and 1.68 mm/y in the laminar flow test. This results shows a good potential application of Magnesium alloy for biodegradable bone implant applications.
