Exploration of Mineral Resources – Sustainability Perceived by the Population
摘要
The mineral resources sector has faced intense social and environmental scrutiny in recent years. Under the argument of lack of information and lack of transparency of the projects, the populations of the territories covered by projects in the mineral resources sector (mines and quarries) have consistently increased the degree of contestation and objection. This paper, analyzes the responses of a population in a survey carried out between December 1, 2023 and January 31, 2024, seeking to understand how the population understands the mineral resources sector, its exploration in the parish territorial space, as well as the social, environmental, economic and cultural perspectives in the context of a broad corporate social and environmental responsibility policy. In this paper, a first set of results are analyzed and advanced, where it is possible to verify that the population understands the need to explore mineral resources, pointing out that the biggest problem with quarries is the destruction of the landscape and the environment around them.
