The paper presents a suggestion of a sustaible solution for an aride rigion in Algeria, (El oued). In fact, the need to develop the agriculture sector in the region has become evident to meet the population’s food requirements. Due to the shortage of water ressources, a correct design of solar water pumping system allows to target both preserving the environement and reducing the total cost of investment. To this, the proposed study intends to select a farm, analyse its need in terms of water, design the required solar water pumping system, design the appropropiate control systgem, and finally simulate the wole systgem. In fact, the selected farm is located in Hassi Khalifa, El Oued, Algeria. The required data of climatology has been obtained using the dedicated software Pvgis while the average water consumtion was evaluated using the CROPWAT simulation tool from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN). The crop water requirements found are translated into electrical energy requirements which have led to the selection of the solar water pumping system’s components (pump, motor, inveter, and PV array). Finally, the Matlab/ Simulink is used to carry out the simulation of the whole showcasing the water flow generation as function of the available solar sunlight. This Precise sizing would help in developing a system with no oversizing, which makes it more efficient and cost-effective as less amount of water is wasted.

摘要
