Septic Shock Due to Chorioamnionitis
摘要
Undiagnosed chorioamnionitis in the peripartum period can lead to morbidity and mortality for both mother and fetus. This infection can occur at any time, before and during labor or after delivery. Chronic chorioamnionitis can lead to premature labor and associated effects such as stunted pulmonary development and retinopathy of prematurity. Chorioamnionitis, when left untreated, can develop into sepsis shock. This chapter will review the signs and symptoms of chorioamnionitis and risk factors for chorioamnionitis and indications for cesarean section and discuss the perioperative management of patients with chorioamnionitis. In addition, this comprehensive chapter contains the materials needed to develop and implement a successful simulation, including a case scenario, narrative, and progression, as well as a scoring rubric for evaluation of peripartum chorioamnionitis and septic shock management.
