The dynamic changes in society associated with globalization and industrialization, have been one of the forerunners for increasing waste generation, which has paramount effects on human health and quality of life. The municipal waste, such as food, appliances, clothing, and plastic packaging and other daily dispose, are a major threat to the United Nations charter of sustainable goal, especially sustainable development goal 11 (SDG 11). The valorization of waste is a strategic approach followed for extracting value from the waste and to minimize carbon footprints. The recent article present the global concerns with food waste and the strategic approaches applied for deriving value by converting the waste to char using pyrolysis.
