Synergistic Effects of Natural Compounds Combinations in the Treatment of Breast Cancer: A Promising Therapeutic Approach
摘要
Combination therapy involving phytocompounds presents a promising frontier in management of breast cancer, capitalizing on the diverse bioactive attributes of plant-sourced substances. Phytocompounds like flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and polyphenols, exhibit anti-cancerous activities via various mechanisms which includes the orientation of cancer cell apoptosis, inhibition of cell propagation, and intonation of signalling pathways. Recent studies have explored the synergistic effects of combining different phytocompounds to enhance their therapeutic efficciency and reduce toxicity. For instance, combination of Curcumin and Piperine has shown to increase bioavailability and potentiate anti-tumour effects. Similarly, the co-administration of Resveratrol and Quercetin has demonstrated enhanced inhibition of the cancerous cell growth and metastasis. These combinations can target manifold molecular pathway simultaneously, such as NF-κB, PI3K/Akt, and MAPK, leading to improved treatment outcomes. Additionally, phytocompounds can be used in conjunction with conventional chemotherapy and radiotherapy to sensitize cancer cells and mitigate adverse effects.
