Development and innovation in steel production has improved the material properties. However, in existing structures, old steels with poor material properties might be used. Therefore, in order to choose appropriate retrofitting countermeasures for damaged existing steel structures, it is important to ascertain the material properties of used steels. Especially, weldability of steels and lamellar tearing problems are crucial in repair welding.
