Drug and non-drug interaction involves co-administration of drugs with food, supplements, herbs, and alcohol, among others. These interactions occur in everyday life and are often not recognized. Although not all interactions are of clinical significance, the potential for increased morbidity and mortality from adverse outcomes and therapeutic failure is of concern. This chapter revisits drug and non-drug interactions from clinical and hypothetical perspectives to improve clinical decisions in therapeutics and drive research regarding non-drug interaction.
