Case 3: Low Atrial Rhythm in an 8-Year-Old Girl

During a clinical screening for sports participation, an 8-year-old girl was discovered to have an arrhythmia throughout the examination of her heart using a stethoscope. She practiced gymnastics, with five training sessions a week. Echocardiography ruled out any cardiac abnormality. Her electrocardiograms exhibited both low atrial rhythm alternating with normal sinus rhythm and premature atrial contractions. No evidence of atrial septal defect or persistent left superior vena cava was observed (Figs. 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4, 9.5 and 9.6).
