Case 15: Paced Rhythm in a 2-Year-Old Boy

A 2-year-old boy was operated for a large ventricular septal defect and anomalous pulmonary venous drainage. After the intervention, he developed second and third degree AV block necessitating pacemaker implantation. He received a Medtronic monochamber pacemaker inserted abdominally connected to epicardial leads placed on the right ventricle. The pacemaker was set at 90 bpm (Figs. 21.1, 21.2, 21.3, 21.4, 21.5, 21.6, 21.7, 21.8, 21.9, and 21.10).
