Case 9: A 2-Month-Old Infant with Recurrent Episodes of Tachycardia

A 2-month-old girl manifesting with agitation, breastfeeding refusal, and vomiting was noticed by her mother to have rapid heartbeats when she placed her hand on the child’s chest. A heart rate of 280/min was measured using a handheld pulse oximeter, leading the parent to bring the child to the Children’s Emergency Department. Upon reaching the Emergency Department, the tachycardia had stopped, revealing an electrocardiogram that displayed a sinus rhythm of 130/min with negative T waves in V1–V3, which is usual for this age group. The pediatric cardiologist opted to conduct a Holter ECG in order to capture the event.
