Case 8: Short QT Syndrome with Syncope

A 16-year-old male patient experienced a sudden loss of consciousness during physical activity without any warning signs. Prior to the arrival of the Ambulance Service, he experienced a subsequent episode of syncope. During the initial examination, the patient exhibited a normal sinus rhythm with a heart rate of 95 bpm, a saturation of 96%, and a blood pressure of 100/60 mmHg. The patient was transported by the ambulance to the Emergency Department, where a 12-lead ECG revealed a shortened QT interval of 320 ms using Bazzet’s correction formula. A Holter electrocardiogram was requested to evaluate the length of the QT interval over a 24-h monitoring period (Figs. 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.4, 14.5, 14.6, 14.7, 14.8, 14.8, 14.9, 14.10, 14.11, and 14.12).
