Case 6: Focal Atrial Tachycardia in a Neonate

A newborn has experienced episodes of tachycardia after birth, with a heart rate of 205 bpm. He had Holter ECG monitoring on the first day of life, which found one episode of tachycardia. Later, he was monitored without medication and at 3 months of age, another Holter ECG was conducted, revealing ten episodes of tachycardia. Treatment began with Propranolol at a dose of 1 mg/kg body weight twice/day. As he presented recurrences of tachycardia, a class Ic antiarrhythmic was added (Figs. 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4, 12.5, 12.6, 12.7, 12.8, 12.9, 12.10, 12.11, 12.12, 12.13, 12.14, 12.15, 12.16, 12.17, and 12.18).
