Image Storage and Reporting
摘要
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in the intensive care unit is a high-impact intervention which directly changes management decisions. It is important to document findings and archive images to support these decisions and facilitate communication of findings to other providers, ensure quality of care via a quality assurance process, and support reimbursement for the time and expertise required to perform these ultrasound examinations. Systems available for archiving images include standard Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) as well as specialized PACS software designed for POCUS. Documentation of ultrasound interpretation can take place in the specialized PACS software or in templated procedure notes in the electronic health record.
