Distal radius fractures are a common type of trauma in daily orthopedic practice. Defects that may require vascularized bone graft (VBG) are rarely seen in these fractures and are mostly treated with primary osteosynthesis. Nonvascular bone grafts (non-VBG) are sufficient for secondary surgical requirements in complications such as malunion and nonunion. When we look at the literature, defects reconstructed with vascular bone grafts are mainly seen after distal radius tumour resection or after fractures of the more proximal diaphysis of the radius. Distal radius traumatic defects that require reconstruction with VBG, presented in a limited number of publications or case reports, are divided into extraarticular and intraarticular. Depending on the localization of the defect, osteal, or osteochondral vascular bone grafts are preferred.
