Skin cancer has worldwide distribution and can be presented in three main forms: melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma (or epidermoid), and basal cell carcinoma. These are known as nonmelanoma skin cancers (NMSCs) and are frequent tumors in the population. Sun exposure is the leading risk factor. While squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) affects areas constantly exposed to solar radiation, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) can affect body areas that are only exposed to radiation intermittently.
