Oncologic emergencies are acute and severe medical health issues that may arise due to complications of the disease or from ongoing treatment. Not uncommonly, oncologic emergencies can even be the initial presentation of the underlying malignancy. Given the increasing overall survival of the oncologic population, the rapid and efficient diagnosis and treatment of these life-threatening events are of importance to all medical professionals.
