Pediatric abdominal transplantation is a complex field that addresses the unique needs of children requiring organ transplants due to genetic diseases, congenital disorders, or acquired conditions. It requires a highly specialized, multi-disciplinary team as caring for the pediatric population presents a distinct set of challenges, including age-related physiological differences, psychological and developmental considerations, and the need for lifelong management post-transplantation. Advancements in surgical techniques, immunosuppressive therapies, and post-operative care over time have led to an increase in the number of pediatric patients undergoing transplantation as well as improved graft and patient survival. In this chapter, we focus on kidney, liver, and intestinal transplantation in the pediatric population.
