Emerging Perspectives in Applied Psychology: Advancements in Queer and Trans Identity Research
摘要
The chapter will examine the various concepts and understandings of LGBTQ clients within applied psychology. The chapter will first discuss the challenges of the initialism LGBTQ in understanding the mental health needs of those with these lived experiences. Applied psychology has focused on the challenges to social determinants of health and the adverse effects on mental health to the detriment of learning the resiliencies and worldviews that support building the health and well being of queer and trans clients and communities. Through a social justice framework and queered intersectional lens, the chapter will propose practices for building stronger therapeutic alliances and the role of practitioners in promoting equity and addressing systemic inequalities.
