Digital Delivery of Orthognathic Surgery and Surgical Wafers
摘要
Modern digital technology has paved the way for the possibility of providing a fully digital orthognathic pathway. This, for the entire team, including the specialists in orthodontics and maxillofacial surgeons, would not only represent an advancement in the techniques provided but also in the turnaround time per case. From fully digital records acquisition to surgical planning and to the final 3D printing of the intermediate and final surgical wafers represent a very contemporaneous way of providing this type of jaw surgery. This chapter will describe the steps needed, the accuracy of a fully digital pathway in contrast to the more established plaster model surgery using face bow registration and semi-adjus articulators, and it will also provide evidence about this technique.
