Digital Delivery of Orthodontic Mini-Implants (OMIs)

In the previous chapters of this textbook, appreciation could have been shown to the facilitative nature of digitisation in clinical practice. This chapter explains the technical aspects of providing orthodontic mini-implants (OMIs) in a completely digital format. This would span from the acquisition of the digital records to the digital facilitation of OMI placement to the final 3D printing of any OMI-borne device. Orthodontic mini-implants have gained increased importance and uptake in the practice of orthodontics over the past decade and providing this technique in a fully digitally assisted way was only a consequential matter.
