摘要
Adolphe Théodore Brongniart (Fig. 4.1) was born in Paris on January 14, 1801, son to geologist Alexandre Brongniart and grandson to architect Alexandre Théodore Brongniart. He was schooled by his father until entering the University of Paris where he graduated in medicine in 1816 and in botany three years later. In 1833, he succeeded René Desfontaines as Professor of Botany at the Paris Museum of Natural History, where he worked until his death in 1876.
