This final chapter provides an overview of some additional topics of relevance in the context of mixtures assessment in epidemiologic studies. In particular, the topic of causal inference in the context of environmental mixtures is introduced, discussing the extent to which existing causal inference methods have been applied in the literature and the additional challenges that have been identified. Additional considerations are provided on methods to incorporate environmental mixtures within the wider exposome. Finally, this chapter includes a summary of the discussed topics and practical considerations on how to design an analytical plan for a comprehensive assessment of mixture exposures and their health effects in epidemiologic studies.

摘要
