Issues with Medical Genetics and the Law
摘要
Many important ethical and societal issues arise from new developments in genetics. The problems include sharing genetic information between family members, the impact of an undiagnosed genetic condition in the embryo, the risk of genetic information on employment and insurance rights, and intellectual property rights over the genome. Society's response to these advancements is lagging. The issues will lead to legal challenges as information is revealed. This chapter aims to cover areas that either do not fit into specific chapters of this book or overlap several areas. It includes topics that relate to recent challenges, concerning several areas of genetic study and activities.
