Task assignment is a crucial activity for software projects, and a well-designed task assignment method can contribute within the success of these software projects, as it furnishes a scheduled delivery, and optimized use of the team in a Global Software Development environment. In this paper, it is presented an automated task assignment algorithm to improve the efficiency of tasks distribution in a software engineer Technical Group from a software R&D institute, using an automated distribution algorithm based on specific characteristics of each task, as well as the load of previous tasks already assigned for each person in a software engineering Technical Group. In order to check performance and liability of the proposed method, was distributed a significant quantity of tasks using manual assignment to check the maximum quantity of tasks that a person can distribute using criteria already mentioned, and then using an automated method to check if exists an improvement of the efficient of task distribution to meet the run time necessities and tasks quantity received by each software engineer. For future works, we can improve the algorithm using other characteristics like the developer correctness of task resolution, and other criteria to be analyzed in posterior research.
