Design and Development of an Animal Recognition and Collision Prevention Structure Employing Computer Vision

Road accident-related fatalities and catastrophic injuries are a major issue that all industrialized countries is now dealing with. Aside beyond other problems that cause these kinds of accidents, like vehicles traveling too fast, sudden lane changes, drunk driving, and many more, one of the major ones is when an animal collides against a car on the highway. Additionally, an approach for determining the animal’s distance in actual units from the vehicle with the camera installed is described. The system under presentation has been trained on over 2200 photos, both positive and negative, and has been tested on a variety of animal-related video clips shot on roads at different vehicle speeds. Our created technology can notify the driver once the vehicle speed reaches up to 35 kmph in accordance with the two-second regulation. The established technology will function in other nations even if its primary focus has been on automatic animal detection in relation to Indian highways. The created system is simple to install in any automobile and, with the right training and testing, may be expanded to identify additional species as well in order to prevent animal collisions with moving vehicles.
