An Investigative Study on Different Security Aspects of Wireless Sensor Networks
摘要
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are composed of embedded nodes that are scattered in space and are responsible for monitoring various environmental and physical parameters, including sound, stress waves, and temperature. The purpose of these nodes is to gather and send data to a central base station or sink for further processing and analysis. Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are used in several fields such as military operations, remote area disaster management, environmental monitoring, industrial automation, and smart city development. Due to the crucial significance of these applications, it is essential to provide strong security mechanisms in WSNs. WSNs include intrinsic characteristics, such as restricted processing capacity, energy limitations, and wireless communication, which render them highly vulnerable to a range of security risks. These risks encompass eavesdropping, data manipulation, denial-of-service attacks, and node capture. This paper explores essential elements WSN security, with a specific emphasis on cryptographic methods for safeguarding data confidentiality and integrity. It also examines secure routing protocols that are resilient against malicious attacks and proposes measures to bolster routing layer security and mitigate threats like blackhole and wormhole attacks. The study thoroughly analyzes these elements to provide a full comprehension of the existing security difficulties in WSNs and suggests efficient tactics to reduce these risks, hence improving the overall resilience and dependability of wireless sensor networks.
