A Compact Frequency and Pattern Reconfigurable Antenna for IoT Close Range Devices
摘要
A pattern and frequency reconfigurable antenna for IoT close range devices is proposed in this paper with a compact size. The proposed structure consists of a hexagonal-shaped radiating element and two parasitic stubs. These, stubs are attached to the ground plane through two PIN diodes for pattern tilting. By operating these PIN diodes in three modes, it provides an omni-directional radiation pattern in mode 1 (both diodes are OFF) that operates at 5 GHz (an IoT Wi-Fi device) with a realized gain of 2.55 dBi and a bandwidth of 830 MHz. In mode 2 (D1 is OFF and D2 is ON), and in mode 3 (D1 is ON and D2 is OFF) with a realized gain of 4.55 dBi and a bandwidth of 1090 MHz operating at 4.3 GHz (IoT-Avionics). The Yagi-Uda concept is used to achieve the pattern and frequency reconfigurability of the proposed structure. The proposed structure is implemented on RT/duroid 6002 (TM) with a relative permittivity of 2.94 and a thickness of 1.52 mm.
