Injury to the thorax is a common indication for imaging in the emergency setting. Thoracic trauma can be grouped into blunt and penetrating trauma, and vascular injury is a substantial cause of morbidity and mortality in both major types of trauma. Imaging of vascular trauma (including acute traumatic aortic injury and other blunt and penetrating vascular injuries) is discussed in this chapter.
