Chair of Internal Medicine, Ioannina University Medical School

In January of 1980, I assumed my duties as professor of the Chair of Internal Medicine and Chairman of one of the two departments of Internal Medicine at the Hatzikostas State Hospital, a hospital with no academic tradition or technical and material infrastructure, and which was inadequate even for a regional hospital. It was the former sanatorium of Ioannina. Several of the departments of the regional hospital were redesignated as university departments with minor adjustments.
