Emigrant
摘要
The next morning, I woke up fresh and raring to go, ready to start searching for a hospital to train at. After a lovely morning with the Kintzioses—they lived in a small apartment in Silver Spring—I asked them to take me, if possible, to a hotel that Professor Papadopoulos had recommended to me. I wanted to gather my thoughts and get moving. My number one priority was to find a job that would give me the opportunity to continue my specialization in internal medicine and take care of my living expenses at the same time. Yiannis Kintzios went to the research institute at Walter Reed Hospital where he worked, and Mary took me to the hotel. It was on Georgia Avenue, near the border between the state of Maryland and Washington D.C. It was a difficult area in which to walk casually in the street or go out at night could be dangerous. The least that could happen to you was losing your wallet. But mine was already almost empty.
