Introduction
摘要
Equity in School Mentoring and Induction offers a unique perspective—the aspect of equity/justice regarding career entry, socialization, and growth. Informed by research and theory, it examines equity in school mentoring and induction and presents the support-accessibility-collaboration-equity (SACE) framework as a powerful structure for reimagining mentoring and induction, especially for busy practitioners. The mentoring and induction literature in which the components/pillars of support, accessibility, and collaboration (SAC) are maintained is seen differently with the addition of equity. I posit that SAC are crucial components of effective mentoring/induction and that equity, a new component, needs attention in school practices. SACE fills a knowledge gap by explicating equity as a value in newcomer professional development and learning. A goal is to support novices’ career and psychosocial development equitably and effectively, with benefits for schools. A description of the book, problem context, significance, purpose and justification, and intended audiences are chapter topics.
