Introduction to Materials Informatics
摘要
Design and development of new materials are necessary for future applications and material requirements. Several simulation-guided approaches have been getting wider attention to reduce the time and resources required for new materials development and their commercialization/application in products. Initiatives like Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME)Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME), Materials Genome Initiatives (MGI), etc., reduced the time needed for material development with limited resources. Recently, the application of Machine learning and data science in Materials Engineering has led to the development of the interdisciplinary Materials InformaticsMaterials informatics domain. This chapter introduces the Materials Informatics approach for developing new materials and predicting the structure-property process correlations. The challenges and opportunities of materials informaticsMaterials informatics and introduction to microstructure informaticsMicrostructure informatics are explained.
