Method for Making Special Rock Thin Section of Shale in the Songliao Basin

This article aims to explore the importance of studying unconventional resources such as shale in Daqing Oilfield with the acceleration of oilfield exploration and development, with a particular focus on the adsorbed or released shale resources in shale and interlayers. These unconventional reservoirs share similarities with organic rich core reservoirs commonly found in oil and gas exploration, but they differ in core characteristics and processing. To accurately analyze different types of shale reservoirs, it is necessary to adopt diverse technical processes to produce and prepare rock thin sections. This article proposes and establishes a new shale special thin section technology process for shale samples in the Songliao Basin. In the traditional sample grinding process, cutting and grinding may cause rock damage, which affects the quality of the thin section and the accuracy of subsequent analysis. Therefore, this study aims to seek more suitable techniques for making rock thin sections by comparing and analyzing different grinding processes and methods. This study not only optimized the preparation process of shale flakes, but also ensured the quality of the flakes, providing a more accurate and reliable data foundation for the experimental analysis of shale reservoirs. Through the application of this technology, it is expected to provide more precise guidance for oilfield exploration and development, further promoting the exploration and development process of unconventional resources in Daqing Oilfield and similar oilfields.
