Social Inclusion of Refugees and Asylum Seekers

The chapter will describe the phenomenon of refugees in Europe based on the definition provided by the statute and protocol on refugees developed by Uinets Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR). Subsequently, the general regulatory framework for legal coverage of individuals in refugee situations or seeking asylum will be outlined. This framework also serves as a reference for any social and educational intervention program to guarantee their universal rights and inclusion in the host society. The chapter will conclude by paying special attention to the international guidelines that support the design and implementation of programs based on physical activity and sports.
