Is Assessment of cDNA Useful in Surveillance After Lung Cancer Resection

The current evidence for cDNA surveillance after treatment of lung cancer remains insufficient to supplant traditional routine radiographic examination. However, an increasing body of consistent data supports the notion that minimum/molecular residual disease, primarily identified through cDNA detection as a reflection of tumor burden, serves as an exceptional molecular marker that uniquely contributes to postoperative surveillance after radical resection for NSCLC. This approach provides a more comprehensive characterization of postoperative recovery, enables earlier prediction of relapse, and facilitates personalized assessment of treatment efficacy. Consequently, we advocate for the regular incorporation of cDNA assessment as an indispensable tool for postoperative monitoring in NSCLC patients, thereby bypassing some of the limitations associated with conventional radiographic follow-up.
