In addition to health benefits, the various HelichrysumHelichrysum speciesSpecies possess properties such as aromaticity, polyphenolic content and pigmentsPigments that allow their use in cosmeticsCosmetics and personal care. In floriculture and urban landscapingLandscaping, a palette of different colorsColor, colorColor shades, fragrances, shapesShape , sizesSize and persistence of flowersFlower, as well as gray-silver leavesLeaf that give them an attractive appearance, pose new challenges for the use of the different HelichrysumHelichrysum plant genetic resourcesGenetic resources. In terms of environmental requirements and maintenance, these are modest speciesSpecies with xerophytic behavior, adapted to different ecogeographical conditions and with a wide range of interesting traits. All of the listed traits provide invaluable opportunities and challenges in breedingBreeding new varietiesVariety for various ornamentalOrnamental purposes. To identify the speciesSpecies of interest, we searched Scopus database and found just over 1030 HelichrysumHelichrysum-related documents. Among these, we identified 51 documents dealing with geneticsGenetic and breedingBreeding, including seven dealing specifically with targeted breedingBreeding. Using visualization programVisualization program Vosviewer and some bibliometric methodsBibliometric methods (additional keyword classification), we then created a map of the links between the different speciesSpecies (H. italicum, stoechas, errerae, hyblaeum, odoratissimum, oocephalum, pendulum, rubicundum …). To explore HelichrysumHelichrysum spp. genetic resourcesGenetic resources for ornamentalOrnamental purposes, breeders have at their disposal the existing breeding methodsBreeding methods, in combination with biotechnological procedures of genetic engineeringGenetic engineering and the latest approaches of mutagenesisMutagenesis with rearrangement of the genome at the nucleotide level, which allow very targeted modification of the genotypeGenotype and consequently the phenotypePhenotype.
