This research article addresses the changing public attitudes towards rape myths through a comparative analysis of the San Fermines #LaManada case, a gang rape that occurred in San Fermines in 2016, on Twitter. The main objective of this study is to decipher the intricacies of social support for sexual assault victims and the perpetuation of rape culture myths in Twitter through the identification of key actors and the in-depth analysis of the primary themes and discourses that developed within Twitter debates. To achieve this, a comparative analysis was conducted, examining Twitter conversations in April 2018 (following the initial ruling) and June 2019 (after the definitive ruling) concerning the #LaManada case. A dual methodological approach was used, involving social network analysis (SNA) to identify influential personalities and text mining to uncover coincidence networks representing important topics. Additionally, qualitative analyses employing Content Analysis will provide a nuanced understanding of the discourse and messages disseminated by influential Twitter accounts. Data for this study will be systematically collected using keywords and hashtags such as “la manada,” “#lamanada,” and “#yonotecreo,”. The results suggest that a notable evolution in the treatment of rape myths and public discourse surrounding the San Fermines #LaManada case on Twitter.
