Digital Storytelling as a Strategy to Develop Critical Thinking in Preservice Preschool Teachers
摘要
Digital storytelling is an educational resource with potential in science education for preschoolers. This chapter explores the development of critical thinking through the creation of digital storytelling centered on children’s daily life issues, conducted by preservice preschool teachers. These aspects have been underexplored in the literature. The participants were 119 preservice preschool teachers from the University of Malaga (Spain). This study addresses the impact of the design and dramatisation of digital storytelling on the knowledge, skills and dispositions of critical thinking. Although the activity, developed in two implementations, was motivating and enriching for the preservice teachers, some difficulties require attention. These include challenges in adapting scientific knowledge to the children’s age, the need to critically analyse information from reliable sources, and the appearance of emotions such as insecurity when making the designs.
