This research focuses on the optimization of display strategies for headgear in Northern Guangdong Yao ethnic museums, with the goal of enhancing the transmission of Yao culture and audience experience. Utilizing field surveys, questionnaires and literature review methods, it analyzes the limitations of current museum displays and proposes optimization strategies that integrate modern display technologies with Yao traditional headgear. The study found that while existing displays have made progress in some areas, there is still room for improvement in enhancing interactivity, educational value, and cultural depth. Accordingly, this research suggests five design strategies: integration of interaction and technology, comprehensive visual display, education and cultural dissemination, display environment optimization, and cultural diversity display. These strategies not only deepen the audience’s understanding and appreciation of the Yao headgear culture but also provide important insights for the exhibition of other ethnic minority cultures. Notably, the optimization of headgear display should focus on combining content with technology, emphasizing the improvement of content quality and the application of new technologies, while ensuring the sustainability and dynamic adaptability of display solutions. Through such efforts, cultural heritage can be more effectively promoted, educational functions enhanced, and the audience’s cultural experience enriched.
