Thermodynamic Assessments of the Ce–Te and Ce–Te–Bi Systems

In the present article, a re-evaluation of the thermodynamic parameters and phase diagram of the Ce–Te binary system and an initial assessment of the Ce–Te–Bi ternary system have been carried out. The new modelling of the Ce–Te system contains two modifications of the liquid phase and the extended phase of the solid compound \(\left( {{\text{CeTe}}_{2} } \right)\) , and the optimized diagram shows satisfactory agreement with experimental data in the literature. For an initial assessment of the Ce–Te–Bi system, the current description is made by analogy with the ternary Ce–Fe–Bi system to confirm the part of the Ce–Bi binary system missing in literature from the ternary Ce–Te–Bi system and using thermodynamic descriptions of limiting binary systems, Ce–Bi and Bi–Te reported in the literature. The results we found are in very good agreement with existing literature data.
