In the burgeoning pet economy of China, pet Apps have emerged as pivotal platforms, catering to the emotional bonds between pets and their owners. However, the prevalent homogeneity in pet app designs often falls short of meeting the personalized and emotional needs of predominantly young users. This deficiency hampers user trust and engagement with these Apps. Addressing this gap, our research introduces an innovative approach of color emotion design in pet applications, aimed at enhancing the visual experience and creating an emotional synergy between users, their pets, and the app interface. Utilizing the K-means clustering algorithm, we extract and refines key color palettes from user-uploaded pet images. This process not only objectively represents pet color but also optimizes the hues, saturation, and lightness to enhance color interface usability, balancing design aesthetics with legibility. This approach emphasizes the profound impact of color on human-computer interaction and its potential to evoke emotional responses. In evaluating our design, we engage users in an interactive process where they upload their pet photos, leading to the generation of multiple personalized color schemes. User satisfaction with the interaction process of these schemes is quantitatively assessed by a five-point Likert scale. Our findings indicate that tailored interface color matching significantly elevates the users’ visual experience. This research contributes to the domain of design within human-computer interaction, emphasizing the critical role of color in crafting emotionally resonant Apps. By bridging the emotional gap between users and technology, our work paves the way for more personalized and emotionally engaging App designs in the pet industry.
