The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness and identify benefits and analyze challenges offered by information systems in the public sector, there-fore, the objective was to determine the impact of inventory control systems in the management a local government the Cajamarca region. The study presented a non-experimental design with a quantitative approach, the population was made up of 5 collaborators from the logistics department. The results allowed us to determine that the use of information systems in the control of assets of the public entity is essential. Allowing to improve transparency and accountability, prevention of losses and misappropriations, optimization of inventory management, agility in decision making, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.
