From appearing of the neural tube from which develops progressively the primordial brain forming the telencephalon, diencephalon, mesencephalon, metencephalon, and myelencephalon, at the embryo of 40–44 mm the brain parenchyma has acquired a configuration similar to that of the adult. In the following phases towards the birth, important changes occur leading to the final configuration of the brain.
