The Application of BIM+IOT Technology in the Background of Intelligent Construction

Against the backdrop of accelerating urbanization, the current urban renewal is in a comprehensive stage, mainly involving residential buildings and municipal utility works, such as the renovation of old districts, the renovation of urban rainwater and sewage diversion, and the renovation of urban roads. Urban infrastructure renovation is huge in number and extensive in scope, and safety management and supervision must be a top priority. Under the premise of a constantly improving public safety system and safety production responsibility system, it is all the more important to utilize new science and technology to strengthen the safety management and supervision of engineering construction and maintenance, so as to effectively control major safety accidents and improve the level of accident prevention. This requires construction companies to strictly fulfill their main responsibility for safety production, as well as to strengthen regulation and supervision. This paper reviews the latest research progress in the field of intelligent construction, focusing on the trends and application scenarios of combining Building Information Modelling (BIM) with advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Through literature review and case studies, the applications of BIM and IoT in facility management, hazardous energy management, and infrastructure project monitoring are demonstrated, and their potentials in solving real-world problems and driving digital transformation in the industry are pointed out. However, there are still some challenges in the existing research, such as data interoperability, security, and standardization issues, and further cross-disciplinary collaborations and empirical studies are needed to promote the comprehensive development and application of smart construction technologies.
