Promoting Cognitive and Psychosocial Rehabilitation with a Co-Designed Multiplayer Serious Game
摘要
Rehabilitation consists of interventions aimed at restoring, maintaining, or enhancing the skills required for daily living. Cognitive rehabilitation includes diverse techniques and strategies intended to improve deficits in memory, concentration, attention, learning, and other higher cognitive functions like language, logic, and reasoning. This study addresses the challenges of community reintegration faced by individuals with Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI) by developing a multiplayer serious games platform. Traditional cognitive rehabilitation methods are often repetitive and lack social interaction opportunities, which often causes abandonment. Through an innovative co-design approach involving eleven participants including patients, caregivers, and professionals, four mini-games were conceptualized and developed for the cognitive training of capacities such as visual and positional memory, mathematical reasoning, linguistics, and executive functions.
