This chapter contributes to the discourse on gender equality within higher education institutions by exploring its evolution at an Italian university. Using a case study methodology, the research focuses on the University of Trieste and the pivotal role of the Comitato Unico di Garanzia (CUG). By triangulating documentary data from the University of Trieste’s website—including sustainability reports, the strategic plan, and the gender equality plan—with semi-structured interviews to the CUG members, the study aims to highlight the actions taken by this body over time to promote gender equality and gives voice to the members’ perceptions. Overall, this chapter sheds light on the diverse and heterogeneous views of CUG members, emphasizing the relevance of collaborations among different university stakeholders and different perspectives to foster more effective dialog and awareness regarding gender equality in academia.
