Breast Mass
摘要
• The overwhelming majority (~80%) of breast masses are benign. • Suspicion for malignancy increases as the patient increases in age. • Oftentimes, what a patient perceives as a breast mass is normal, nodular breast tissue. This is more pronounced in premenopausal women due to cyclical menstrual cycle changes. Glandular breast tissue is the densest in the upper outer quadrants and as such, this is the area where most patients complain of breast pain or a palpable mass. • With a new breast mass, breast cancer must always be ruled out.
