Colon Cancer
摘要
Colon cancer is the third most common cancer in the United States and is on the rise in patients younger than 50 years old. Clinical presentation can range from no symptoms (diagnosed on endoscopic examination) to symptoms such as rectal bleeding or change in bowel habits. The etiology of colon cancer is often sporadic, but hereditary cases comprise of about 10% of cases. Treatment depends on the stage of the cancer and severity symptoms at the time of diagnosis and can include surgical resection or upfront chemotherapy. Adjuvant chemotherapy is often used for patients with stage III and high-risk stage II tumors.
